Susan Herlands Holland, the Executive Director of Historic Albany Foundation, will present Historic Albany's
work on saving historic buildings in the City of Albany, New York for the last 43 years. Using national movements in historic preservation, stories of vacant buildings come to life and rescuing important architectural salvage, she will present her views of the historic preservation movement, both past and moving into the furture. Recently, she participated in Breathing Lights, a public arts project in Troy, Schenectady and Albany funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies; saved an important, mid-19th century Gothic Revival church from demolition and is at work rescuing the oldest building in Albany--Dutch built, C. 1728 Van Ostrande-Radliff House. Ms. Holland will also discuss Historic Albany's Architectural Parts Warehouse, a longstanding salvage business open to the public which is thriving in the Capital
Region, the Berkshires, the Hudson Valley and beyond.
