Amy updated the committee on the publicity for the workshop. She and Dominick contacted Hudson River Sampler, Chatham Courier, Register Star, The Independent, and the cable companies. Joe Prout will do a story for the Register Star and The Independent is sending a photographer to the event. Flyers have been distributed in the villages of Kinderhook and Valatie. Ray said that Bill Krattinger and North Pointe were all set for the workshop and he would arrange with North Pointe to provide refreshments. Since we will not be charging for the event, North Pointe will bill the Town of Kinderhook directly.
Bill updated the committee regarding the Van Buren Will. The will belongs to the County Court. Concensus was that the will needs to be restored and that it would be too fragile to be sent on temporary exhibition. Dan said that currently there was not a good place to exhibit the will at Lindenwald and it would be disruptive. He mentioned that there were grants available through Save America’s Treasures. The amounts were usually at least $50,000. As part of the presentation to the Town Board, we would ask them if this was something they wanted the committee to follow up with the county as a joint project.
Ray and Bill agreed to make a presentation to the Town Board with Ann and Tom about the activities of the committee and what items we would like to have funded. The presentation is scheduled for the May 11th Town Board Meeting.
Ruth suggested an annual lecture series on the history and culture of the Town of Kinderhook.
Kevin announced a fund raiser on June 4th for the Valatie Chamber Music Festival.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
