The Town of Kinderhook is a remarkable and extraordinary place.  Hedrick Hudson, while moored on the river that today bears his name, noticed the Mahican Indian children gathering on the shore, and coined the name of our Town – Kinderhook – Dutch for “Children’s Corner.”  While many years have passed since those early encounters, the passage of time has been kind to the oldest Town in Columbia County.  We invite you to spend some time with us: exploring our past, sampling the fruits of our labor, and enjoying our recreational facilities.
