For many years, the town assessor has annually conducted a systematic analysis to determine what assessment changes were necessary to assure all properties were fairly and uniformly assessed at full market value. This practice has been possible, in great part, due to the enhancements made to computer technology over the years.
We are working, now, to take greater advantage of our technology by enhancing its ability to assist us in producing initial values for field review and 2014 final assessments, continuing the practice of conducting a systematic analysis to update assessments in 2013. These initial values will, more than anything else, be determined by the accuracy of the data, including, especially, the characteristics (inventory) of your property.
Toward the end, data collectors, including the assessor and assistant to the assessor, will be visiting properties in 2013 and 2014 to make sure the data we have for each property is accurate and up to date.
If you have any questions or concerns about this process, you may call the assessor's office.
